There’s no shortage of things for social justice warriors
(SJWs) to get all worked up about these days. They want everyone to feel
special and included except for the people that are legitimately exceptional. I
blame the rise of the SJW crowd on the “everyone gets a trophy” generation.
When actual achievement, hard work, and sacrifice takes a back seat to self-esteem,
then chaos ensues. Take for example the strange case of Plano, Texas Senior
High School. In a press release dated June 2, 2016 and found here, the school administration
banned the wear of National Honor Society regalia by students that earned that privilege.
This move by the school administration made the local news
in Plano and the story spread nationally.
The next paragraph is going to be filled with critical
thinking fallacies. You’ve been warned. What this situation boils down to is
feelings. Some parent got their panties all in a wad because their special snowflake
child didn’t make the cut. So they called the principle and pitched a temper tantrum.
Another possibility is that the principal just decided to make this a policy because
he or she is a SJW. Whatever caused this decision to be made is irrelevant.
What is relevant is the consequences of the decision. Instead of it being a
life lesson to the kids that were not in the national Honor Society, it turned
into a lesson on how to bring other people down to your level. They also
learned that instead of rising to the occasion and earning honors, it’s better
to prevent people from standing out. They should be a part of the crowd; engage
in group think, collectivism, and only worry about how you feel about yourself,
not on self-improvement.
I weep for next generation and the world they are going to
inherit.
