Work day blues

This is me since starting the new job. I have to work up the motivation to get out of the jeep every morning to get my day started. My boss is the worst. He could be a case study on narcissism and toxic leadership. The people that work for me are pretty solid. I have few complaints about them. The shop is the largest amount of people that have I have ever supervised at one time. They each come with their own problems but they seem to know what they are doing. I can work with that.

Back to my boss. I have decided that the best way to deal with him is to give him the Tony Soprano treatment.

In the first season, Tony is just a captain in the New Jersey crime family. When the boss dies, Tony arranges for his Uncle Junior, also in the mob, to ascend to be the next boss. What Uncle Junior doesn't know until its too late is that Tony is secretly calling all the shots and Uncle Junior was put into place to take the fall.

With my boss, I'm going to pick and choose my battles to let him think he's calling the shots. I also have been tactfully telling him no with him catching on or getting upset. I'm Tony and he's Uncle Junior. I'm not trying to set him up, I just want to minimize the damage he can do to my guys.
